  • Song of the Cultural Revolution: There are songs on this page that people in China used to sing during the the time Mao came into power. They aren't like singing songs but they are more like opera songs. You'll find a variety of songs or "chants&q uot; on this site. There is English lyrics to them and all that. This site is important to our topic because these songs were made and sang because of Mao, the song are pretty much all about the NEW ERA. The songs support Mao, and they talk about who they are to him. This is important because it tells us what they felt at the time, people usually write songs and sing songs to express their pride and or what has happened to them, these songs do just that, they tell you how the people felt and their pride. We chose this site because it has a lot of good songs on it, and they relate to Chairman Mao. The most significant songs on this site are "Long Live Chairman Mao" and "We are Chairman Mao's red guards" because it has to do with their pride and how they felt about Mao.
  • Cultural Revolution Video Clips: This site is important for us because it has videos of the events back during the revolution and during the great leap forward. They have videos of people going "Long Live Chairman Mao" and Mao getting persecuted. It relates to our topic because it has people cheering for Mao and supporting him. The other was Mao getting persecuted. He was holding a sign with his name and his wrong deeds. They drove him around the place to embarrass him before they killed him. Back then in China they would write your name in red ink and cross it out and make you wear the sign to show you're a bad person and you're going to die. They usually take you around the place to show people who you are. You usually had to have your head down and people yelling at you for the wrongs you did. They would tell your buisness infront of a crowd too to make it more embarrassing then they would kill you. These videos have Mao being put in that position.
